AOE for iOS was created as a demo of the iOS SpriteKit game framework.
It is Open source but couldn’t be released on the App store due to Fair usage concerns around the Art. The app is for iOS only due to Spritekit framework constraints, and is written entirely in Objective-C, some python plugins were developed to extract animations and art assets from the encrypted game data files of AOE HD.
